Thanks to assisted reproduction, around 3.5 million children have been born to date. Starting in 1978 when the first in vitro fertilization was done, and Louise Brown was born, until now, the progress of these techniques is quite evident. Assisted reproduction is defined as "the union of the egg cell and the spermatozoon which has a qualitative transfer of the best embryo into the woman's uterus". Selecting the embryo and transferring it to the uterus is a procedure that requires teamwork from a good team. Dr. Slobodan Llazarevski, head of the assisted reproduction department at the "Acibadem Sistina" clinical hospital, explains below 5 methods and factors that increase the chances of successful in vitro fertilization.
Assisted hatching To implant the Brazil Email List embryo in the uterus, it must be freed from the zona pellucida, a thin membrane that covers the embryo. The process of releasing the embryo from the zona pellucida is called "hatching". This process can be made easier by making a thin opening of the zona pellucida before performing the embryo transfer. There are several methods of "assisted hatching": mechanical, enzyme and laser. The simplest and safest method is the laser method, because the procedure is faster and easier, not allowing the embryo to be exposed as little as possible to conditions outside the incubator. At the "Acibadem Sistina" clinical hospital, we have the most modern laser-assisted hatching technique available.

The precise laser beam is directed to the embryo capsule, making a small opening of 10-20 microns, in order for the embryo to come out of the capsule, otherwise called "hatching" - explains Dr. Lazarevski. ICSI – fertilization of the ovum with a sperm ICSI or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is a procedure during which only one sperm is injected into the egg cell. For this, a team of experienced embryologists is needed, as well as adequate laboratory equipment. According to Dr. Llazarevski, first the best quality sperm is selected from the sperm, and with the help of the ICSI technique the egg cell is fertilized. In both IVF and ICSI procedures, the principle is the same, egg cells are taken from the woman and sperm from the partner and their fertilization is done.
